Natural Sciences and Miscellaneous Fields Group

The expertise of chemists, physicists and other natural science fields is required in determining the cause of damage or loss or developing preventative concepts. These specialists, including engineers in highly specialized fields, have formed a group of their own.

They are often to be found at the side of other BTE experts, their job being to determine the cause of fire and explosion damage, for example.

They are also consulted in cases involving environmental damage and third-party liability. Chemists in particular are commissioned to perform investigations and analyses when buildings, technical and commercial facilities, goods and stocks have been contaminated by toxic or hazardous substances as the result of a fire or chemical accident.

Utilizing the findings of their analyses and investigations the members of this group can also develop concepts for damage prevention, remedying the damage caused by chemical corrosion, providing for hygienic rehabilitation, or the proper disposal of hazardous waste produced by fire cleanup and rehabilitation measures. The implementation of such concepts is usually monitored by these same specialists. In so doing, they act as key partners of insurance companies and the insured alike in loss adjustment or claims handling.

Owing to their qualification, the members of the Natural Sciences and Miscellaneous Fields Group are also sought-after competent partners in many cases relating to fire prevention, (hazardous) waste disposal, and investigations pertaining to past pollution/environmental liability.
