As in all BTE groups, the work of the Industrial Engineering Group is subdivided into two main areas: firstly, loss adjustment, and secondly, rendering expert opinions and assessments on the individual machine units of machinery facilities and entire plants or sites.

In loss adjustment cases, the BTE expert’s work is based on sound knowledge concerning the technical and cost-effective repair options for machines and replacement part procurement. The work of the BTE expert frequently extends beyond strict loss adjustment or claims handling, as he or she is frequently charged with overall damage or loss management. This not only involves organizing activities for remedying or repairing damage or loss, but also rendering advice on the prevention of future damage or loss.

Expert assessments are rendered by BTE members of the Industrial Engineering Group for a variety of reasons: For fire insurance appraisals at the reinstatement value and current value; for determining the current market value for banks; for purchase and sales negotiations, disputes and in bankruptcy cases.
